Fresh from the joys of a thousand crucified Ronald McDonalds in the recent Chapman Brothers exhibition, my obsession with small things got a boost this week with a tweet about the most awesome dolls houses I've seen in long while. Made by San Francisco based artist Jen Spectacular, the attention to detail and spooky narrative of her most recent project was influenced by Detroit's crumbling Victorian mansions - in short I not only want to own one, I'd quite like to live in one too! http://jen-spec-industries.com/ Victorian gothic - dolls houses by Jen Spectacular. | Chapman Brothers ' the sum of all evil' White Cube Gallery, Hong Kong.Spurred on by these miniature masterpieces I set about rummaging around at my local car boot to find the objects of my desire. Lo! and behold, I came across a nice little hoard including the smallest toothbrush in the whole world, a pistol and some very fetching spectacles (that a soon to be stuffed hamster will be sporting in the not too distant future). So, now to set about inventing some diabolical dioramas of my own - but as our name suggests, the occupants will have way more legs! Some of my recent micro purchases. To aid my cunning micro planning a cocktail or two was definitely in order. We decided to try Christopher's Martini Bar in Covent Garden. I opted for a shot of Junipero gin in my Vespa Martini and have to say it was one of the best I've ever had! However, the exorbitant price they charged means it'll be the gin I'll be revisiting not the bar! http://www.theginblog.co.uk/home/2011/02/junipero-gin/ |
